Duchess of Manchester's bracelet
Posted by JohnAF on December 22, 2019, 8:45 pm
On Royal Musings Marlene posted an article written on December 20th 1909. It says that in her will Consuelo, Duchess of Manchester left her 'rub (presumably ruby) and diamond bracelet to The Queen' (Alexandra). Would anyone have any idea which bracelet this is & if it has been seen, sold by a descendant etc.?
There are very few photos of Consuelo, Duchess of Manchester wearing her grand jewels available, so I don't think anyone has ever identified the bracelet in question.
The Royal Magazin site has this page https://royal-magazin.de/england/queen-alexandra/q-alexandra-ruby-jewellery.htm showing a portrait of Queen Alexandra with a ruby bracelet. I don't know when the portrait was painted. When I initially looked at this site some time ago, I was under the impression that Ursula was saying it was the bracelet left by Consuelo, Duchess of Manchester, but now the page has changed.
