Edith, Marchioness of Londonderry. Other jewels?? Posted by Beth on February 9, 2020, 1:50 pm Edit: I was very much mistaken. Thanks to Ashdean and Mauriz, I can now insert the correct name -- Princess Marthe Bibesco. I stumbled on this photo. I can recognise the tiara, earrings and the Londonderry diamond cross. But what of the chain across the top of the dress? And the brooch on the left hand side? The diamond necklace of sq/emerald cut stones at the top of the dress look like the bracelet stones I mentioned in a recent post also on the Londonderry jewels. They are outstanding and huge. It's indeed Marthe Bibesco sitting at the table with Edith, Marchioness of Londonderry and wearing the famed emeralds. Getty has several images of Elizabeth Bibesco labelled "Marthe Bibesco" and there are quite a few images of Marthe floating around labelled "Elizabeth Asquith". The National Portrait Gallery, where I found Elizabeth Asquith's photo, seems to be more reliable when it comes to identifying the sitters.
