Most of the jewels described in Leslie Fields's book have been found in press articles. Few of them have never been found : 1° : "In 1968, the Queen and Prince Philip made their first state visit to Brazil and the Governor of Sao Paulo presented the Queen with a V-shaped 'hair ornament', as it was described at the time, also made of aquamarine and diamond. In 1971, the stone were used to make four scroll-shaped motifs for the tiara..." 2°In november 1952, the first year of her reign, the Queen laid the foundation stone for the new headquarters of Lloyds of London and was given a diamond brooch of the frigate Lutine.." 3° A mythical sea creature, wearing a gold crown, covered in pavé-set diamonds with a cabochon ruby eye ; 4° Two different diamond rose sprays set in gold. 5°A cluster ring 6°/7° : two rings sets with yellow diamonds, one round and one square ; 8°A delicate narrow link bracelet with floral motifs ; 9°Pendants pearls suspended from five tiers of collet and baguette-cut diamonds ; 10° A cabochon sapphire bumblebee with diamond wings ; 11°/12° - My famous two unworn sapphire and diamond tiaras !! it should be worn !! 13°A filigree Maltese cross set with five large sapphires and a number of small diamonds - Maybe worn on least once - QEQM : 1° When Princess of Wales, King George V's sister dead, she left the Duchess of York a diamond fringe necklace - maybe a mistake Franck

The Queen wore this badge in 2011 to the Fishmongers Hall. Maybe Field made also a mistake. Perhaps the mythical sea creature described in Field is the Fishmongers Guild Badge. The stones were very pale, and were believed to be aquamarines, but it might be this brooch. The is believed to have been the necklace left by the late Princess Victoria, is it not? It has later also been worn by her daughter Queen Elizabeth. The fringes are different from her London fringe necklace.

The Her Majesty's Jewel Vault site traces the earliest sighting to Malta 1967. I think that these two photos from 19 November 1947 show the brooch being worn. As to the possible origin of this brooch. I wonder if it could be the brooch given to QEII (then Princess Elizabeth) when she launched the Cunard liner, Caronia in 1947 not long before her wedding? At the time the press did not mention the brooch having been given to QEII, rather it concentrated on civic gifts given as a wedding gift, so there was no description of it; nor could I ever find a photo. But there are some clues. A few years ago LauraM alerted me to a report she had found in The Scotsman 17 August 1950. Thank you LauraM! The report was about an Exhibition in Edinburgh, and it mentions 2 brooches lent by QEII. One was described as "a delicate trembling rose spray" given to QEII when she launched the Caronia. The only other mention of this brooch was also in the Scotsman on 5 September 1950. I have never found an image of the brooch given to QEII when she launched the ship or a photo of the brooches in the exhibition in Edinburgh in 1950. I have some queries. 1. Is the design of this brooch likely to fit the date of 1760 given by the newspaper? 2. The brooch worn by QEII in Canberra in 2011 does not appear to be set en tremblant. This video of HM at a function at Yarralumla in 2011 has some excellent views of the brooch. I don't think any part of the brooch quivers. What do others think?

However, the brooch worn by Princess Elizabeth is an other floral brooch worn with matching earrings when she was young (worn for example in Paris in 1947). Thank you also for your press articles.
