Princess Diana / Duchess of Cambridge / earrings Posted by Franck on March 5, 2020, 4:48 am Princess Diana, as we all know, was the owner of a diamond and amethyst demi-parure including an pair of earrings (very sadly never worn after her death by the Duchess of Cambridge: Worn in Portugal in 1987 She also wore the earrings in 1985 (maybe with ruby ?) ? The Duchess of Cambridge wore only once earrings with ruby in Poland in 2017. I have always been struck because the design which are quite similar. Therefore, I raise the question whether the earrings worn by the Duchess of Cambridge are from Princess Diana further the following situation - the pair of earrings worn by Princess Diana can be changed to ruby (worn in 1985) or - Princess Diana had similar earrings or last situation -the earrings worn by the Duchess of Cambridge are completely different from the one worn by Princess Diana Franck

I think that Princess Diana had only the amethyst suite which she wore with different colours, including the burgundy/maroon coloured dress. One of the things influencing my idea is the pearl bracelet with the amethyst and diamond centre/clasp which we know Princess Diana wore with the amethysts. For example At the ballet 1985 wearing a burgundy/maroon dress with the earrings and bracelet. 1986 wearing a purple dress with the earrings and bracelet. Wearing the earrings, the bracelet and a pearl and amethyst necklace with a burgundy coloured dress. Because of the colour reproduction the central stones look dark reddish. For a number of reasons, I suspect that the Duchess of Cambridge's earrings do not have rubies. I also think that the central stones in Princess Diana's jewels are cabochons; in the Duchess' it looks to me as if the stones are faceted. What do others think? And what stones could be in the Duchess of Cambridge's jewels?

In Canberra in November 1985 she also wore the amethysts with a burgundy coloured dress. I think that the colour of the amethysts is clearer in this photo. But the amethyst colour is not as clear in this photo.

I do not understand why these jewels are not worn by the Duchess of Cambridge or Meghan Markle.
