Jewels on Currency
Posted by OmerH on March 11, 2020, 12:54 am
Queen Elizabeth II has been featured on many currency notes across many countries and has worn various tiaras in the portraits featured on these notes. My personal favourite are the current Bank of England notes featuring my favourite tiara the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland.
However various other countries have used different portraits featuring QEII such as one with the Vladimir tiara and the Burmese ruby tiara.
Do others have any favourite jewels featured on coins and/or notes from around the world??

An interesting way to look at QEII's jewels OmerH!
QEII features only on the Australian five dollar note, and she is not depicted wearing a tiara.
I have no idea which set of pearls she is wearing, except that they do not seem to be the Queen Caroline and Queen Anne pearls, or the ones we call the Hanoverian pearls or those referred to as the Indian pearls.
One of the more interesting banknotes featuring a queen wearing jewels is a Javanese banknote from 1919 where Queen Wilhelmina is featured.
What interests me about her jewels are the pearls suspended below the diamond necklace. I don't think I have seen that configuration previously.
Does anyone have more information?

That's the first time I've seen a picture with the pearls, but Queen Wilhelmina did wear diamonds suspended from her Diamond Trellis Necklace, and there is an option to wear it with pearls so it doesn't surprise me!
