The French Crown Jewels at the Louvre Posted by The Royal Watcher on March 11, 2020, 9:50 pm Despite there being a lot of uncertainty due to the Corona Virus, the Louvre was the highlight of my visit to Paris last week, HERE, and I got to see the magnificent French Crown Jewels in person, which was an absolutely wonderful experience! After being underwhelmed by the size of the Danish Emerald Tiara previously, it was truly a delight to be able to appreciate the scale of Empress Eugenie's Pearl Tiara and of the Duchess of Angoulême's Emerald Tiara! However, I was surprised by the small size (not of the stones but of the parure) of the Orléans Sapphire Parure, which seemed especially tiny beside the larger Tiaras!

When you mentioned the small size of the sapphire tiara, it triggered a memory -- hopefully others will know if this is correct or not. Wasn't the tiara "downsized" at some stage? And some of the elements used in other parts of the parure? Or has my memory played tricks on me?
