QEII and Queen Mary. Same brooch? Edit. Not so sure Posted by Beth on March 19, 2020, 7:47 am When Franck recently gave us a link to the Queen's Jewel Vault seeing the brooch worn by QEII jogged my memory. Queen's Jewel Vault item http://queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/2020/03/audience-at-buckingham-palace_11.html#disqus_thread According to the site QEII has worn this brooch only on a few occasions. A better view of the brooch can be seen from photos taken of HM in 2015. I think that this Art Deco style brooch originally belonged to Queen Mary. Unfortunately, the images I have are somewhat fuzzy; yet, I think there is enough definition to say it is the same brooch as now worn by QEII. In this 1938 photo it is worn vertically. Detail In 1941 Queen Mary wore it pinned more conventionally. Detail (Perhaps a bit too blurry) Image from a video. What do others think? Is it a match? Edit: The more I look at these brooches the more confused I have become. Now I think they are two different brooches! Oh for a better photo of Queen Mary wearing her brooch!

Not so sure" With QM’s jewels I think we sometimes forget that she had many people who would have got a few pieces, she had several nieces on her own Cambridge side, the Strelitz princesses must have received something, and the descendants of QV who got married would have got a substantial trinket. It’s also appears quite common that she gave to charities. And don’t forget that Marina, Alice and Mary might not have worn everything they had. We know that QEQM wore very little of the Grenville jewels, maybe she felt the same about QM’s inheritance.
