Swedish Royal Jewels - Second episode

They talk about: 6 button tiara The Bernadotte Emeralds The Nine Prong Tiara (painful story when Silvia first used it) Vasa Earings The Pink topazes The Connaught Tiara
And as last time, the Google Crome automatic translation is a bit amusing.
There was so much to learn (and as Benny said -- to laugh about in some of Chrome's translations)
One of the things which I hadn't realised previously was that it was the King's sisters who wanted Queen Silvia to wear the Connaught tiara for the festivities on the eve of her wedding, because in the eyes of the family the tiara is linked to their mother. What a charming gesture! Nor had I realised that the tiara came with the two necklace fittings, even though I had seen photos of Princess Madeline wearing the drops as a delicate necklace.
The history of the pink topaz suite is fascinating, not the least being that the stones themselves came from Brazil, not Russia as so many have asserted.
The story behind the 6 button tiara was equally interesting. I found the Crown Princess' description enormously helpful.
I was surprised to see how much I liked the Karl Johan diadem (Six Button) in high quality video, in motion. I still wish it had better design, but I can understand now why the family isn't keen on redesigning it.
Chrome gave me no other translation than swedish !! So what is the story behind the Berliner Diadem now known as the nine pronge tiara ?

Again a big thanks to Benny for posting the link!
I had a delightful time watching the program.

If i understand it right they believe that it was made of a comb which was made in Berlin (they show a pic of Queen Lovisa, née Pricness of the Netherlands). Apparently the comb was enlarged for Queen Sofia to the present diadem. Queen Silvia tells when she wore it for her first Nobel in 1976 it was buring in her haid. Prince Bertil noticed that she felt no well and told her she should remove the pins. As it was for TV cameras she died as she wopuld touch her hair and removed them. After coming home and she removed it they burned in ealiozed that it had burned in her haid. With the help of the then Court Jeweller the frame was then adjsted so that it fits better to Queen Silivia's had and that the weight of the tiara is not all on the central part. Apparntnly that was a difficult Job.

Just double klick and then you can turn on translate, at least that's how it works on my mac. Nothing really new, just that in a note it was stated that it was so clumsy and ugly, according the the jeweler making an inventory, that it must be made in Berlin, but no one knows were it was made. But it turned up in the inventories around 1860's.
