Wearing 2 tiaras or head ornaments at the same time Posted by Beth on April 27, 2020, 6:05 pm Seeing a lady wear 2 tiaras at once, or a tiara with another bejewelled head ornament, always captures my attention. Who are some of those who did so - or even better do so today? Here is one: the Countess of Eglinton. The photo below was published in 1909. I initially thought that the Countess was dressed for a Court occasion, but she wasn't wearing feathers which were part of the British Court etiquette at the time.

We have only recently discussed Queen Alexandra's use of the small crown with other tiaras. Mabell, Countess of Airlie appears to be wearing a tiara and a bracelet together. Incidentally she ia the Grandmother in Law of Princess Alexandra of Kent. Queen Frederika wore the tiny Hanoverian nuptial crown behind Queen Sophie's tiara at her wedding. Further I am sure there are dozens of pictures of ladies wearing coronets behind their tiaras for British Coronations. The Dukes of Westminster own the fabulous Bagration Parure which has a matching hair comb. I wonder if the Duchesd has been seen in the full parure??

It's such a unique look - I don't think I've ever seen other Spanish royals and nobles try something like this before.

She was dressed for the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. Here's another photo from the same occasion, the two tiaras less visible.
