In a post below, Thomas mentioned the possibility that Princess Anne's festoon necklace, which Leslie Field said the Queen and Duke gave her for her 18th birthday, might have evolved from the wedding gift which the Thakore of Gondal gave to Queen Mary in 1893.
Thomas' post (for any who missed it)

https://mb.boardhost.com/historyroyaljewels/thread/1566356822.html In this post, Dave was the first to mention on the board that Queen Mary's necklace might have been the basis for Princess Anne's festoon necklace. My apologies Dave for saying the other day that I thought Franck was the first to mention this. He had mentioned it to me in a private correspondence.
In his post Thomas asked if anyone knew when Princess Anne was first seen to wear the necklace, as her aunt, Princess Mary, Princess Royal, had died a few years before Princess Anne's 18th birthday -- which makes it possible for the basis of the necklace having gone back to the main line of the royal family.
The earliest date I can find for a photograph of Princess Anne wearing this necklace is 1970.

To assist people to decide what they think, below is the sketch I found of the gift given to Queen Mary.
And some better photos of Princess Anne's necklace
I am looking forward to seeing what others think. Has Princess Anne's necklace evolved from the gift given to Queen Mary? Or is it a different jewel entirely?
