Help to identify Posted by J-F on June 18, 2020, 10:32 am Hello everyone ! I have these photos which I can't identify the sitter nor the jewels. They are total mystery to me. Does someone can help ? A B C D E F G H No tiara nor grand jewel wore here but a huge pendant ! I found this pic somewhere on the Web. The sitter is identified : Princess Karoline Amelie of Schleswig-Holstein but I've found nothing about that princess... Many thanks ! J-F

According to Marengo of the Royal Forums (see https://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/f20/german-and-austrian-royal-and-noble-jewels-1621-15.html please scroll down to post 298) the first photo, marked A, is of Princess Klara von Saxe Meiningen, mother of the Archduchess Regina of Austria. I almost certain that photos D & G are of British ladies.

Below is a better image than the one I posted above, though it is not as good as the image J-F posted. I've found this image of the following Countess of Dunmore (her granddaughter-in-law) wearing another Tiara! As that line of the family did not have male heirs, and the title passed to distant relatives, I wonder where those Tiaras are now!

Due to his marriage with an unequal woman he lost his claim to the danish throne. His pro-german political position and his participation on the german side during the First Schleswig War led to his retreat from Denmark. He lived with his family in Primkenau in Silesia. Karoline Amelie was born in 1826 as third of seven children. Through her brother Frederik she was the aunt of Empress Auguste Victoria. Her brother Christian married Princess Helena, daughter of Queen Victoria. (Informations from wiki, sorry.) With the flaws in her pedigree - an aspect that also led to discussions regarding the marriage of her niece with Prince Wilhelm of Prussia - and the limited financial resources of the family it might be difficult to get her a husband, perhaps a reason she stayed unmarried.
