Misuse of research published on this board
Posted by Board Administrator on July 1, 2020, 5:02 pm
I have become increasingly concerned with the misuse of original research, analyses, insights etc published on this board. Too often lately such work has been published by commercial organisations, which either name the so called "expert" or provide a link to that person's site. In reality, the research or insight has come from someone on this board.
All who post on this board retain all their legal rights to be identified as the author or researcher involved.
While we share the fruits of our research, insights etc that does not give others the right to use it or present it as their own research.
It makes no difference whether the site using the work of board members is blatantly commercial or allegedly a not for profit entity.
Without written permission from the author, those sites cannot use the work published on this board.
Today I put up a Header, which will appear at the top of each message, reminding readers that original research etc is not something which can be used without permission.
If anyone wishes to comment on this message, they can do so, providing that no sites or individuals are named.
If any sites are named, I will take down the posts.
This is not the time for naming and shaming, as some may have misused information inadvertently and will avail themselves of the opportunity to rectify things.
I will, however, name one site which always (as far as I can see) does the right thing. That is the Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor and its subsidiary, From Her Majesty's Jewel Vault.

This will be something that will continue to occur, it happens throughout the education system especially in the research and Arts (Music and Movies) fields regardless of copyrights/ intellectual laws and policies. It is only addressed when same is pointed out and challenged by either the person doing the original work or others who may know of who did the original work.
Regards,
Dave.
