Sale of Bathurst jewels Posted by Beth on July 31, 2020, 5:56 am Not all of the jewels auctioned by the heirs of Gloria, Countess Bathurst were sold. In particular the tiara and corsage ornament attributed to Cartier failed to sell. I don't find the supposed Cartier tiara very attractive Posted by Janet on August 1, 2020, 3:21 am, in reply to "Sale of Bathurst jewels" It lacks the beauty and elegance I associate with Cartier. Maybe it looks better when being worn. Often many of the leading jewellery houses tend to try and buy back jewels from their history when they come to auction. Maybe the fact they didn't try (or were unwilling to spend ££££) suggests that Cartier either doesn't rate it amongst their past work as being importance enough to try and buy or simply they don't accept it as one of their's.
