Queen Mary's Enamel Maple Leaves
Posted by Bryce on September 13, 2020, 5:13 am
A gift from the Ladies Of Montreal in 1901, Queen Mary's Enamel Maple Leaf Spray is the next royal jewel to be honoured by the Royal Canadian Mint.
The $20.00, 1 ounce silver coin is available for a mere $119.95 (Canadian !)
Here is a link - it is pretty good image of the brooch - pearl and all.
It is an attractive coin Bryce, and one which I think may be popular with collectors.
I wonder if the Mint is planning a series of collectible coins featuring royal jewels? With two such coins in a row, it seems possible. If so, I wonder which other items might feature?
I am very interested in just how many collectible coins in this series will be produced -- as it does now look like a whole series will be released. So, please keep us informed as information becomes available.
The Royal Canadian Mint seems to have developed an inventive way of depicting the jewels.
While the Mint runs of the coins are limited to ensure future value for collectors, I wonder just how many Canadians, as opposed to coin collectors world wide, will buy the coins?
I find it interesting that the Royal Canadian Mint, rather than any other Commonwealth country, is producing this style of coin. I doubt if such coins would be a "major" draw card in a country such as Australia, but perhaps they would in New Zealand.
