Pahang Aquamarine Tiara
Posted by The Royal Watcher on October 19, 2020, 2:23 pm
I recently published an article on the Diamond and Topaz/Aquamarine Saltoun Tiara, HEREto mark the 90th Birthday of Flora Fraser, 21st Lady Saltoun, and received a message from Queen Tunku Azizah of Malaysia, the XVI Raja Permaisuri Agong and the Tengku Ampuan (Queen) of Pahang that she has a Tiara in the same design!
The Queen stated that she had bought the Tiara at Hennell in London quite a few years ago and assumes that it must be a copy of the Saltoun Tiara. Her Majesty also got the Tiara out of the vault and privately sent me a few images of the Tiara (in its case from Carrington & Co stating that they are the jewellers to 'HM the King and HM Queen Alexandra'), so I'm thinking that it could have been made during the reign of King Edward VII.
Tiara Mania also has an article on the Tiara, HERE, in which they have said that it originates from her grandfather so I'm more curious about it! I wonder if anyone has any other information about this beautiful piece!
I have read Her Majesty is very active on social media but this is amazing! Interesting that she bought this tiara herself because as you say there are pictures of her step grandmother wearing it also, so the assumption had to be that it was a family piece. Maybe she loaned it to her step grandmother Queen Nora?
It is such an impressive tiara(s), I saw your post of Lady Saltoun at a Danish royal event and her's looked the biggest tiara by far. Nice to see that it is still in the family.
