The Teck crescent tiara

Dear all,
I have just read in the QD that a new frame was provided and the two rows of diamonds at the base were removed in March 1937 (Bill from Garrard 24 March 1937).
Therefore, we can suppose that the two rows of diamonds from the Teck crescent tiara are still in the royal vault.
I have always wondered about that comment in Hugh Roberts' book, as the two rows of diamonds forming a base were always removable.
For example--
Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck wearing the tiara without the base
Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck wearing the tiara with the base.
Her daughter-in-law, Margaret Grosvenor, wearing the tiara without the base.
If the tiara was acquired by Queen Mary with the two rows of diamonds, then no doubt the diamonds are still in the British collection, somewhere. But it is also possible that Queen Mary gave them as necklaces to one of her daughters-in-law or Princess Margaret.
