I have never seen a photo of the original tiara previously. Hans Nadelhoffer has a sketch of the 1908 tiara, which does seem to match the the photo. Even so I am a little perplexed by the clumsy metal frame holding up the tiara. Surely, it was not meant to be worn like that? What do others think?

I think it may have looked quite nice, huge diamonds poking out of an enormous bouffant hair style with very little evidence of a support. Quite whimsical.
