Queen Olga of Greece diamond stars
Posted by J-F on December 5, 2020, 10:18 am
Hi,
Queen Olga of Greece owned a set of at least 4 diamond star brooches. She wore them on her bodice or even on her head.
Grand Duchess Helena of Russia, married Prince Nicolas of Greece and became the daughter-in-lay pf Queen Olga. I've found no photo of Helena wearing the stars but...
Princess Marina, Helena's daughter, wore a set of three diamond stars (one large and to smaller). She wore them on her head, her dress or her belt.
And Marina's daughter, Princess Alexandra also wore a set of three diamond stars, most in her hair.
So, a possibility that these stars came from Queen Olga ??
Side by side, Marina's and Alexandra's stars seemed to be more pointy that Olga's.
I'm really fascinated by these Diamond Stars, and while I've suspected they come from Queen Olga, the size differences are quite notable.
If Princess Marina's Diamond Stars didn't come from Queen Olga, then they most certainly come from Princess Nicholas or Grand Duchess Vladimir, since they were worn by her in the years prior to her marriage, when Prince and Princess Nicholas were not in a position to acquire new jewels.
This also makes me curious about what may have happened to Queen Olga's Stars, and also where are Princess Marina's Stars today?
As for Princess Marina's Stars it is likely that they where soldat auktion at somne point like so many of her other Jewels.
