Sothebys to auction jewels of Patricia Countess Mountbatten
From Instragam - "Living history: Patricia Mountbatten was born in 1924 into a dazzling dynasty as a great-great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, a great niece of Russia’s last Tsarina, first cousin to Prince Philip and the daughter of Britain’s last Viceroy of India. On 24 March, over 350 lots from her collection will be offered, including a selection of jewels passed down over centuries.
Pictured here is a late 18th century brooch with a cushion-shaped yellow diamond given to explorer and botanist Joseph Banks by his eccentric sister Sarah around the time of his marriage in 1779. Originally gifted to his wife Dorothea, it passed to her sister Mary, Lady Knatchbull, until finally to Patricia's husband John Brabourne and its last wearer, Patricia"
Even though the lots haven't been made public on the Sotheby's website, information on a few of the jewels has been released, including a bracelet from Queen Victoria, a Tutti Fruiti Parure, the Order of the Crown of India, and 'an Art Deco diamond crown with rubies, emeralds and sapphires'
I wonder if inherited any of the jewels from Queen Louise of Sweden?

This should be interesting. I wonder if this sale is in direct relation to the U.K's dreadful inheritance tax system or if the present family has no real need for the kind of objects once held in high regard years ago. I await to see what treasures will show up.
