Queen Elizabeth II at the Diplomatic Reception in1968 Posted by Kongetro on February 2, 2021, 4:35 am In the "infamous" documentary that was made available on the net not that long ago included some footage from the Diplomatic Reception in 1968. What a great gathering! And to think that this has taken place every year without the public being able to relish in the grandeur and the glittering jewels... The Queen is seen wearing a brooch at the back to fasten the Sash of the Garter. Due to the quality of the film I have not been able to identify the brooch. Nowwaday it seems it are only the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duhcess of Corwnall and the Cambridges. My recollection is that the brooch QEII wore to secure her sash to the back of her gown was oblong in shape. Unfortunately, I didn't do any stills of that section. But could the brooch be the brooch part of Queen Mary's chain link choker/bracelets? Mauriz did a very interesting post in 2018 showing how the brooch detaches from the frame it rests in when worn in the choker.
