The two new items are-- 1. That at the 1911 Delhi Durbar George V was given a necklace with large rubies by the Nizam of Hyderabad. No image of this was provided. 2. That QEQM wore a Cartier brooch of red coral, black enamel and diamonds on her hat. A photo of QEQM was shown. I'll try to see if I can find the same image later today and post it. Another item which caught my attention was an aquamarine brooch worn by QEQM and later given to Princess Margaret. It was said that the brooch was made in 1932 and purchased by QEQM in 1947 for 174 pounds sterling. It was this brooch Princess Margaret wearing it in 1956 (that date demolishes the assertion that QEQM gave it to Princess Margaret after the birth of her son) I know that the purchase date of 1947 was known previously but I don't think that we knew that QEQM purchased the brooch or the price.

Caroline de Guitaut stated that Princess Marina wore her mother’s fringe tiara at her wedding to the Duke of Kent. There was also a reference made to the fact that Cartier London knew about the forthcoming engagement between the two as the Prince ordered the engagement ring before travelling to Yugoslavia where the engagement occurred. There was quite a lengthy discussion about how Cartier used red coral during this period.

Apology to LauraM " Thank you for the link back to the RJWMB post which you did Franck. At the time, your post changed a lot of thinking about so many royal jewels. I see now that I was mistaken and that you had already posted the price of the aquamarine brooch which QEQM had purchased in 1947. Christophe Vachaudez was, however, mistaken in saying that the brooch was given to Princess Margaret after the birth of the current Earl of Snowden, as there is photographic evidence of Princess Margaret wearing it years earlier.
