Meghan earrings....

Anyone else catch this story today? They are diamond chandelier earrings from Chopard! I miss the old days when wedding gifts were displayed with the giver's name.
Now that I have looked I see that just about every press outlet is mentioning this, although I hadn't read the connection to Chopard. Was that in the Telegraph article? As it is behind a paywall, I couldn't read it.
The Duchess wearing the earrings in Suva.
At Prince Charles' birthday celebrations.
The diamonds appear to be a mixture of pale yellow and white diamonds.

I love the earrings but am now more than ever concerned about the Royal Family and its future. I see the family as an embodiment to unity, positive prospects, civil duty and an encouragement to people of all walks of life.
What I am getting is all a kind of Dynasty/ Knots Landing/ Falcon Crest/ Hollywood melodramas and this is signaling the windup of this historic and regal institution if they do not pull back now.
The British government needs to be now more clear as to the role they want to have the royals fill, they cannot continue to pump money into all of this kind of showmanship.
I am not saying the royals have to be robots or some kind of perfect creature, they just need to focus on their civic duty and not feed into the media arena, unless all of their efforts will seem like a game but with rewards of living high off the hog.
Regards,
Dave.

I hear and understand your concern. The Royals have always had drama, but this new world of instant media/cyber crap/social media has removed any veneer. I think a HUGE amount will change when the Queen passes....stripped down, simplified, clarified. I think Charles will remove the sovereign's status as head of the church. I even think most of the jewels will sadly disappear or be in a museum.
I really like Harry and Meghan but now I understand what happened with the Duke of Windsor and Wallace back in the day. If you effectively leave the royal family you should be silent and be ignored a bit. Leave the family to have your freedom, but don't set up an alternative public existence. Buckingham Palace should also not engage.

Meghan’s earrings are by Butani. I found this information at Meghan’s Mirror. A reader, Courtney M, found a picture of them on Butani’s Instagram page from Nov 2016. There is also a matching necklace, but I don’t know if it’s part of the gift. Pics in the link.
