Posted by Franck on April 22, 2021, 7:25 pm Dear all, We know that the Duchess of Cambridge wore a unknown a smaller graduted collet necklace at the Diplomatic reception in December 2017. Name of the photograph written A. What we know : We also know that Queen Elizabeth II has only least 7 collet necklaces in the vault : 1. The Duchess of Teck's Collet Necklace ; 2. Queen Elizabeth's Coronation Necklace ; 3. Queen Alexandra's Collet Necklace ; 4. The Duchess of York collet necklace (average - diamond not graduted - diamonds less bigger than n.3) ; 5. Lady Mount Stephen's collet necklace with a square diamond (Longer, Graduated Collet Necklace) left to Queen Mary in 1933 (from Beth) ; 6. A Smaller Collet Necklace worn as a Princess and in 2012 and also by Princess Margaret ; 7. a long diamond sautoir worn by QEQM as Duchess of York (in Paris for example) (from Beth and Franck). B. Analysis : I can clearly confirm that the collet necklace worn by the Duchess of Cambridge is not one of the necklace from the list below. The collet necklace worn by the Duchess of Cambridge is smaller and graduated ! The diamond are, for example, far smallers than the Duchess of York's diamond collet necklace (not worn since the death of QEQM in 2002) (number n.4). New photos : I have discovered a new photo of Queen Mary wearing her first diamond necklace (received as a wedding by the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1893 to the future Queen Mary (Duchess of York) thank to : https://royal-magazin.de/england/q-mary-tiara-women-hampshire-brooch-aigrette-headornament.htm I have also been sent these photos from a friend (certainly from internet) : Please also note that Queen Mary wore this necklace after her coronation in 1911. My own conclusion I now do think that the necklace worn by the Duchess of Cambridge is the one worn received as a wedding by the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1893 to the future Queen Mary (Duchess of York); The reasons are the following : - necklace near the neck ; - Smaller Collet Necklace ; - Graduated Collet Necklace ; My theory would definitive if you could see the central stone of the necklace worn by the Duchess of Cambridge.
