What wonderful finds about both brooches! Your information certainly makes sense of the reports which spoke of the Montreal brooch having a fleur de lys superimposed in diamonds. I wonder how the mix up in the boxes occurred? Even more interesting is that no one at Christie's tried to reconcile a signed piece of jewellery with an officially inscribed box with the stamp of a rival jeweller!! Even more baffling are the conflicting inscriptions. Again congratulations!!

It appeared as though the lining was newer. But that was just my impression. Thank you for your kind words.

I enjoyed very much reading about the brooches and hopefully you will be able to discover in more facts about any of the other gifts the Princess received during her tour of Canada in 1958.
