Tudor and Stuart Jewels
Posted by Sam (The Beau Monde) on June 29, 2021, 1:01 am
Afternoon all,
I just finished Tudor and Jacobean jewellery by Diana Scarsbrick and in my opinion it's way too short.
Therefore I thought I'd do my own articles on these jewels.
This article keeps popping up in my research and I was wondering if anyone had read it and is it worth $39?
"Sotheby’s is delighted to announce the third in its series of Small Wonders auctions, which showcase early gems and jewels from the ancient world through to the early 19th century. The auction is led by one of the masterpieces of the Marlborough Collection, The Arundel Zodiac, a rare 16th-century astrological intaglio set in a virtuoso enameled gold pendant (estimate: £120,000-180,000). Joining The Arundel Zodiac are beautiful glyptics, gold boxes and other small precious objects"
Some really incredible historical piece including items dating from the Tudor period including the Arundal Zodiac dating from the 1540s!
