Query regarding Spanish coronets/tiaras Posted by Beth on July 31, 2021, 7:37 am Recently Pablo Milstein in his Instagram site https://www.instagram.com/milstein.jewelry/ had a series of posts on various Spanish coronets/tiaras, which I would recommend to all. I am interested in why strawberry leaves are such a feature in these jewels. Can anyone enlighten me?

Feuilles d’ache Posted by Vincent on August 1, 2021, 7:04 am, in reply to "Query regarding Spanish coronets/tiaras" The original symbol in heraldic language is the Ache leave “ feuille d’ ache” in french. It started beeing used around the XIV th century to ornate crowns on coat of arms. At the same time than the lily flower in french royal crowns. It seems the origin is Greek. The use of the term “Strawberry leave” is definitely recent. It may originate in the fact that both leaves are quite similar and the British were the first (with Brittany) to the to cultivate strawberries In their garden around 1740.

Like Bryce I have had an interesting time looking at the history of it all. Without Vincent's insight I would have missed the earlier connection. I am always so grateful for how the sharing of knowledge benefits us all. Apologies for the late reply. Like most people in my region, I spent yesterday closely following the details of a new out break of the coronavirus in our region!
