Meghan Markle and her wedding day Cartier Jewels
Posted by Dave on August 5, 2021, 12:52 pm
Hi guys, I saw the below clip from You Tube and thought it merited enough interest to post it. In the short video the host reflects on the jewelry worn by Meghan Markle on her wedding day especially the Cartier bracelet the Duchess débuted. What the host highlighted was that the Cartier bracelet is part of an entire set which consist of a necklace, earrings and the said bracelet and a ring. So it made me wonder if the Duchess was indeed gifted an entire parure of diamonds. The diamonds seem to be top quality and are just beautiful.
Regards,
Dave.

Very interesting to watch, thanks Dave. Unless the Duke and Duchess of Sussex release information about their wedding gifts, it seems unlikely we will know whether the Duchess owns a complete suite or just the bracelet. But --
1. As the video incorporates footage from the royal wedding, it appears to me that this promotional video was made after the Sussex wedding. And yet, we still see a bracelet in the video, which suggests that the Duchess' bracelet is not unique. The question is just how many items of this design did Cartier make? Obviously more than one!
Re: Meghan Markle and her wedding day Cartier Jewels
The necklace from the suite looks pretty large. Was it the PoW that was reported to have gifted Meghan Markle with the Cartier bracelet? And if Meghan was gifted and entire suite from Cartier maybe she decided against wearing the necklace and earrings at her wedding because it may have appeared as overkill on an already beautiful dress and tiara. Since seeing the video and it's featuring of the Sussex's wedding I'm almost resigned to believing that Meghan Markle was gifted the entire suite of which was featured in the video. It's only a supposition which could be wrong.
Regards,
Dave.

Re: Meghan Markle and her wedding day Cartier Jewels
Hi Bob, in my initial query I was really focusing on the bracelet the DoS wore on her wedding day and the subsequent video produced by or on the jewels from Cartier' 'which showcased the said bracelet the DoS wore on her wedding day along with a necklace, earrings and a ring which came with the said bracelet all made at Cartier.
So I was making a supposition that maybe the DoS may have been gifted the other jewels in the video which was designed as a set and included the bracelet.
I never made any mention of the tiara being wholly gifted to the DoS because it has been confirmed that all brides of the BRF are loaned a tiara from HM's collection of jewels.
Well we do know of the DoY being gifted a new tiara for her wedding by the Queen and if we go back in history, we'd also see that QV gifted royal brides with their wedding tiaras as well.
Regards,
Dave.

Was the tiara really given to her? My understanding is that The Queen allowed her to wear it that day (ie: a loan, not a gift).

A new tiara was bought for Sarah, and Sophie was given one made out of leftover bits found at the bottom of a safe somewhere (at least that how that ugly thing looks to me).
I believe Diana was given her tiara because it was expected it would eventually revert to the collection (ie: in time, D would become Queen and the tiara would stay in the collection). All the other wedding tiaras were loans. Even Anne's wedding tiara was a loan.
