Queen Victoria of UK (Emerald Jewels) Unseen
Posted by Dave on March 13, 2022, 8:14 am
In the documentary on Queen Victoria below, one will notice from (40 mins 13 seconds) into the program that a picture/ painting of the queen depicts if you look closely the queen wearing not one but two large bracelets with colored stones, and what looks like a matching necklace and earrings to boot.
I have not noticed these pieces before and it actually gives a close up of the earrings and part of the side view of the necklace at (40mins 51seconds).
I think or recall there was a discussion had some time ago by Beth' myself and others about the emerald jewels in the keep of Queen Victoria and an belt of emeralds was mentioned by I believe Beth with it being gifted by the Indian Maharajas and then someone said that it was left as a legacy to her granddaughter Queen Maud of Norway.
The stones in her necklace look square cut, but could the colored stones be sapphires and not emeralds? Before I forget' there is also noted 2 rings on her left and one ring on her right hand which are slightly decipherable at the first viewing.
The notion is, that the BRF does not have many historic emerald jewels, but this could be a very wrong narrative if we take into account the pieces spotted here. Are we sure that the emerald necklace worn by the DoCorn is from a Middle East ruler/ prince/ emir or is that emerald piece from the great white queen as QV was referred.
And what of the emerald necklace which was reported gifted to the late PDPoW by either the PoW or the present Queen? Because if you look closely, they all have similarities with the square cut stones to what could be seen in the clip at the times indicated.
I think the coloured stones are from it being badly colourised. The black and white image shows them to be diamonds. Probably the Lahore Necklace and Earrings.
I thought about that as well but the earrings in the painting are totally different to the ones depicted in your photo. But still a worthy point.

Dave.

I have no idea. But I think the necklace in the 40 min and 13 sec part looks also like the emerald necklace of the late Princess Ragnhild of Norway. It was used in 1987 at King Harald's 50th anniversary gala at Akershus Castle, and never seen public again. She paired with the large diamond tiara she had access to. GalP
Hi and welcome GalP, as I don't think I have had an interaction with you before. Your supposition sounds and looks like a match, but idk.

Dave.

At (35 minutes 44 seconds) there is another painting of QV shown on the program and she wears a large oval colored centre stone with pearls attached forming a bracelet on her left hand. Any suggestions as to the stone?

I agree with 992234177, that it is a very poorly coloured photograph. In fact, I will go further and say it is the worst colouring I have seen.
Look at how the blobs of colour have been put on the diamond bracelets. It is the same for the necklace, earrings, the little crown and the Garter sash. We definitely are not seeing "new" jewels. I also agree with 9922334177 that it is the coronation necklace and earrings under the blobs.
