Queen Sonja's jewels at the funerals Posted by Franck on September 22, 2022, 8:36 am Dear all, Have you noticed the jewels worn by Queen Sonja during QEII's funeral ? She wore a big pearl necklace, pearl and diamond earrings and also a little diamond brooch. Can it be from Queen Maud (and consequently from the British royal family). It would be therefore a lovely nod to QEII. Franck

The evening before the funeral, she wore a more interesting piece, a diamond and pearl brooch I have not seen before. Sorry for the blurry image. Could it be a British heirloom? Does anyone know? However, what I did notice is that she wore the portrait of King Harald suspended in a bow in the Norwegian colours, which she normally wears to formal occasions like this, on her left hand side. But it’s partially hidden. Would make sense to wear that for an event in Britain.

Both Queen Maud and CP Martha wore solitude diamond and pearl earrings. Sonja’s seems to be a bit larger, but it is difficult to be sure.
