Coronation disappointed
Posted by Dave on May 6, 2023, 9:18 pm
From what I am seeing' the coronation has not even bested the previous jubilee's. I was at least looking forward to have some serious debate on jewels etc but it is so very bland one cannot even debate the garments.
The crimson robes would have given color, at least some kind of hair jewels, tiara bandeaus for the royal ladies would have been nice. It makes no sense having or calling it a coronation if it resembles a normal celebrity church service.
I had very low expectations, but even then I was disappointed with the lack of any tiaras and other major jewels, and the general dress down of many guests and even some of the participants.
One positive point to add is that I did like the wearing of Garter, Royal Victorian Order, etc. robes, but the female members should have worn tiaras with them IMO.

Even some guests who do have orders, OBE, MBE, OM, CH etc didn't wear them.

The two attendants to the Queen who were in white dresses looked so out of place without headgear and red robes, if one looks at the assemblage on the BP balcony one would just realize how odd they all looked.
If this is what a British coronation has come to, then it is no longer set apart from the other such enthronements in other countries if I can call it that.
Not having an upstairs seating for royals as was done for the late Queen's coronation makes this event not one you would put everything aside for to watch.
Is this the idea of trying to make people of all categories feel included, well in that case why have a seating plan then. A seating plan puts everyone and everything into classes and categories.
Regards,
Dave.
