Good view of QEII's Nigeria 2003 diamond demi-parure Posted by PaulP on August 3, 2024, 8:50 am The new to us jewels worn by Queen Elizabeth II during her December 2003 Nigeria state visit and CHOGM meeting were much discussed. The linked short film shows the best views i have seen of the diamond earrings and necklace. Frank's lists included these pieces. I wonder if the bracelet on HM's right wrist matches the earrings? This does provide the best pictures, before this none of the photos were good enough to see the earrings. Even the exact name of the event I don't recall seeing before. As QEII often wore jewels given by her hosts I wonder if this set was given to her by the Royal Fathers of Nigeria. This whole trip had lots of jewels never seen before or since, even on other royals. Combined with no high definition photos or information released by the palace I think it is one of the biggest mysteries.

HM wore so many jewellery pieces that have never been seen before or since. I find it "odd" that she would not have brought something familiar. My personal opinion is that many of these jewels were borrowed due to some unforeseen circumstance(s).

IIRC, at appearances during her four day stay in Nigeria in 2003 we saw around three brooches, and three demi-parures (pearl & diamond, sapphire & diamond, and all diamonds) that were new to us. It would be very surprising' but certainly not impossible that some were loans.
