An heirloom of the Marquesses of Anglesey for over a century and a half, it is believed that the Négligé may be a part of the legendary Collier de La Reine at the heart of the ‘Affair of the Diamond Necklace’ and the subsequent French Revolution.

How exciting that pieces that have been hidden away for decades are appearing again - it makes me dream away as to what piece I wish we could see next in a fantasy world. Antique jewellery is so valuable now whereas post war it was looked down and so pieces were often sold for a relative pittance or broken up. I think for me it would be Empress Maria Louise's Topaz parure, what a marvel that would be if it suddenly appeared, I think it hasn't been photographed at least since the 60s. Re: Anglesey Diamond Négligé on Auction Posted by Dave on September 24, 2024, 7:29 am, in reply to "Anglesey Diamond Négligé on Auction" This makes me wonder about the rumored diamond necklace supposed to have been in the collection of the late Margaret Greville bequest which was claimed that it was from the Austrian French Queen Marie Antoinette. This necklace featured is supposed to be a broken up peice from said Queen. It is really huge though by the picture you have provided The Royal Watcher. I'd like to see a debut of the 2 Cartier diamond necklaces that the late Queen Alexandra is supposed to have owned. Regards, Dave.
