Thank you for visiting the La Manzanilla message board. Please read and follow the following guidelines and instructions for using the board.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE MESSAGE BOARD:
Please click the "Register" link on the main page (https://mb.boardhost.com/lamanzanillainfo) and fill out the form for access to post on this message board.
Use your first name and last initial (e.g. JohnS) as your username so that other people in La Manzanilla will know who is posting. If your username is already taken, please add a number or letter to the end (e.g. "JohnS7" “JohnSt”). If you are representing a business or restaurant, please use the business name (Bahia Azul, Panaderia Leia, etc.).
PLEASE NOTE: some people have had trouble creating a new username and/or password because the system does not allow punctuation or special characters in either of these fields. Please only use letters and/or numbers.
If there’s any doubt as to the validity of the person or business that registered, the account will be confirmed by the moderator or deleted if it can’t be confirmed. Anyone impersonating another person or posing as a business that they do not have the rights to, will be blocked from the board.
After your submission, the moderator will review to ensure the request is valid (not from a “bot”), then a random code will be emailed to you in order to confirm your email address. Simply click the link contained in this email and your registration will be automatically processed.
IMPORTANT: When you log in for the first time there is a small drop-down box where you can select how long your password should be "remembered". If you choose "forever", you will not need to log in again as long as you use the same device (phone, tablet, laptop) each time. You can use another device to access the board, but will also need to login on that device to remember your password. You only need to register one time, no matter how many devices you use to access the message board.
By signing up for the message board, you will be able to post new topics and reply to other topics. You will no longer need to type in your name every time you post nor the 8 digit number. You will also be able to go back and edit posts you have made.
If you decide not to register, you will still be able to read all posts, but not reply to them.
SPAM
The message board has been changed to a "log in to post" message board to try and prevent as much spam as possible. This has succeeded is bringing the incoming spam posts to near zero. However, please continue to be vigilant and do not to click on any link when you don't know who posted it and/or you're unsure if it's safe. This is a good habit to learn.
RIDE SHARE REQUESTS
Please see the separate post here on how to create & reply to ride shares. Requests without contact info will be deleted.
RENTAL REQUESTS
Must include contact information. If you are looking for accomodation, please be as specific as possible (number of bedrooms, amenities, stairs okay or not, view from up the hill or flat land, dates required, etc.). Then add your email address so potential landlords can contact you directly. Your private communication with a landlord should remain private and not be open on the board for anyone to read. If you fail to include your contact info, your message will be deleted.
“FOR RENT” ADVERTISEMENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED
Please use another service like AirBnB, Facebook, or create your own website. Also, replies from landlords to rental requests should be done privately via email, WhatsApp or whichever method the requester specified. DO NOT REPLY TO RENTAL REQUESTS ON THE MESSAGE BOARD
POST MUST BE RELEVANT
The message board is for relevant information about La Manzanilla, or Mexico in general if it directly affects residents of or visitors to La Manzanilla.
Sometimes a post about Canada or the US is ok if it is relevant and from someone we know. The message board is not Facebook.
IDENTIFY YOURSELF
The message board requires users to log in before posting. This ensures that it is from a person who is willing to stand behind the comments of that post by identifying themselves with an identifiable name. Any post not following that guideline will be removed without explanation.
If you are not known by the citizens of La Manzanilla (whom this message board was originally set up for) or you post is of a controversial nature then additional information may be required.
This message board is for the people who live in La Manzanilla, if you live in Melaque or Barra or elsewhere please use your local message board.
There are certain situations where a post from another area (or non resident) may be allowed, for example some important news, but you must identify yourself and or be known to the people of La Manzanilla. If it's just your opinion it may be removed without notice.
It is ok to post if you are a visitor looking for information, if you are looking for a rental please follow the guidelines above.
COMMERCIAL POSTS
If you are a commercial establishment please limit the promotion of menu items, events, specials to one post per week as a way to keep the board from becoming too commercial.
Multiple events in one week? Please create one post at the beginning of the week listing everything coming up. Do not create separate posts for each event and please ask your entertainment (bands, singers, etc.) to only post if you are not going to post. This is admittedly difficult to track for every restaurant and business in town, so your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
