Usually, about once a year (TWICE ALREADY THIS YEAR) I post this.
Having nearly checked out due to foam at the mouth, loss of muscular control, and double vision due to a scorpion sting, I did an investigation.
The pharmacist at the Farmacia Melaque (Javier) sold me a 20-pack of 25 mg. tablets of CLOROPIRAMINA, which he told me was the same medicine that I would receive for a scorpion sting at the Central de Salud.
The difference is that at the clinic they either inject or deliver by i.v.
I was stung a second time by a scorpion and took the cloropiramina and within 1-2 hrs. I was almost symptom-free and definitely with no anaphylaxis. Only 200 pesos for 20 tabs.

One of the smallest scorpions the bark scorpion found here is also the most venomous. Some think because it is small it is not deadly, not true at all.
How poisonous are scorpions in Mexico?
"Scorpionism is one of the most important public health issues in Mexico. Intoxication by scorpion sting is in the first place among illnesses by poisonous animals and it is among the top twenty causes of mortality in the country, and in some states it is even among the top ten."
