However, my own two cats didn’t accept her, so I fed her and gave her water outside . . . until the food attracted roosters. Both Lil Pip and Roscoe Feo, normally indoor/outdoor cats, spent the first week inside. The second week, Roscoe hid under trucks across the street while Pip zoomed across adjoining rooftops to spots in the shade. Since I knew where they were, I took them food and water after dark. Then I discovered that the “owner” feeds the kitty only a handful of dry food a day, doesn’t touch her, and won’t allow her inside, even during a hurricane. Clearly, “Trixie” will never go back to that nearby house.
This situation cannot continue. Trixie cries relentlessly when I don’t feed and pet her, and my own cats have revolted by hiding again. I don’t want to dump her somewhere and put her in harm’s way, fending for herself. I don’t know anything about her health history or whether she has been sterilized. She now cleans herself but runs away when I try to take her picture. I live in a bungalow at the Hospedaje El Tope on Lazaro Cardenas, next door to the Frozen Buddha.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
