Warning - renters. Do not rent from Rita and Camilo Silva or Sandra Silva, their daughter, for their house on Calle Negritos. They refused to sign a written rental agreement after agreeing via a verbal agreement that they would; they took our payment for December's rent in March and then tried to evict us with 5 days notice when we arrived on December 1st; the house was not as advertised; they tried to claim the rent we paid was a "deposit" and we owed them rent that was double the amount we paid. They lied every time they spoke. We had to involve the delegado who said they had to let us stay for the month of December as we had a receipt that says we paid THE RENT for December but that, without a signed rental contract, we have to move by January 1. These people are not anything like the other landlords we have had over the past 15 years who have been most kind and compassionate.
Our advice to all renters - make sure you have a signed and witnessed rental contract, (by the delegado if possible) especially if planning to return in 2025.
Needless to say, we are looking for a 2 bedroom house with reasonable rent from January 1 to March 31, 2025 Dm me for more info.
