The La Catalina Foundation held their annual 'Meet & Greet' event to allow the Scholarship students to get acquainted with their sponsors.
Estefania Carranza, the energetic young Director of La Catalina, told us there are now 82 students in the program, from Primary school all the way up to University. Congratulations La Manzanilla, what a success! Thanks to everyone who donates to support education in this little town!
Much appreciation to Victor Amezcua and Julie Catton who started the Foundation back in 2004, when the majority of kids were quitting school after 6th grade. Now many more families value education and want to see their children go further.
And of course the biggest thanks to Joanne Kipp for her tireless efforts in running the Foundation. Her positive attitude and love of the kids has made all the difference!
There are still some students who need sponsors. If you are interested in helping, send a message to Estefania Carranza, office@lacatalinafoundation.org
I took photos of the kids with their sponsors- sorry if I missed you!
