My wife Debbie has been giving free cooking classes for the Mexican kids here every week for 17 years. The season usually ends with a competition between the two groups of students. The two classes from this season competed against each other - the younger girls from the
Primaria vs the older girls from the
Secundaria.
Two separate kitchens were supplied with the same ingredients and recipes: Chinese Fried Rice with Vegetables and Bacon, Honey Garlic Chicken, and for dessert Moist Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Glaze.
The judges were Martha (owner and Chef of
Fenix Restaurant) and Geovanni (former student in the Cooking Class in years past, manager at
Juan's Cenaduria, and now studying Gastronomy). They judged the winner by giving points for Presentation, Cleanliness, Team Organization, and of course Flavour.
The food was delicious and it was very close, but the winner is: the younger girls from the
Primaria! Everyone recieved prizes of kitchen tools.
Congratulations to all the students - very well done!
Thanks so much to judges Martha and Geovanni, and to Jeanne Crosby and Ilene Harris for being a great assistants! See you all next season!
