Here’s my understanding of what we heard at the ejido meeting.
The council would like to clean the rocks from the beach after the Christmas season, starting in January. They are first going to get an estimate of the cost then ask the expat community, businesses, restaurants and residents to contribute to the cost. One person, Robert, agreed to be the central collection point for any expat donations. Robert has a home on the beach near the whale tail.
There was quite a bit of discussion about why we have this problem and what can be done to prevent it in the future. The president of the ejido said they would work with higher levels of government on a long term plan, but there isn’t one at this point.
The concern was mainly with the appearance of the beach and trying to keep the tourists coming and the restaurants busy.
