There is so much talent in this little town! Besides giving local musicians a forum, and live audience practice, the Open MIC has additional benefits. It is a community building event, with attendees making friends, having lots of fun, enjoying diverse entertainment, and dancing. However, this past week I was most aware of the cross pollination occurring between musicians. New musical friendships and collaborations are being formed. Impromptu bands and jams are forming. More solo artists are jumping in spontaneously with others. New musicians are being recognized and finding gigs at local venues. Some are able to “advertise” for their performances at other venues.
All, bonding through music, the international language. So, it’s a win-win-win for everybody!
