From the water committee as posted on Facebook today:
💧 IMPORTANT PROGRESS FOR WATER SUPPLY IN LA MANZANILLA
We are pleased to inform the community that machinery and personnel from the Government of the State of Jalisco have arrived to begin drilling a new potable water well for our town.
This well was requested at the start of the current municipal administration by the La Manzanilla Ejido Board and the Ejido Potable Water Committee, in a proposal presented to Mayor Luis Arias, with the support and advocacy of Councilwoman Alejandra Morfín.
Carrying out this project required completing the necessary administrative steps, including obtaining the drilling permit from CONAGUA.
The project was primarily requested to address water issues in the "Crucero" area, where, for approximately 24 years, we have relied on a well with low flow and salinity problems.
Today marks the start of a crucial phase, though we must await the results. Drilling will allow us to determine the available flow rate, and subsequent analyses will establish the water quality.
If the results are favorable and the new well's capacity allows, we aim to expand the project's reach to supply water to the town center and the "Campo" area as well, thereby strengthening the water supply across various sectors of La Manzanilla.
We extend our gratitude to the Government of the State of Jalisco, Mayor Luis Arias, Councilwoman Alejandra Morfín, and all the individuals and institutions that have contributed to the progress of this project.
We will continue to keep the community informed—transparently and step-by-step—as the work progresses and results become available.
