ATM PROBLEMS

This Thursday am the lock ATM by the police station withdrew money from my Canadian checking account but flashed me a « not enough funds « message and gave me no pesos. ANYONE ELSE HAVING PROBLEMS?

Keep receipt, take a photo, contact your bank, it will get sorted, happened to me last year

Yes I did continue to use that atm last year and have had problems this year so far

Thanks, Clare. Have contacted my bank successfully. Have you used the ATM since your mishap? I’ve never had an issue the last 4 years, but I am a bit leery!!

We have started to use Western Union in Melaque. Better exchange than ATM and you can send yourself more money.

how do you WU yourself money and where is it in melaque and what is the exchange rate? gracias

Down load the Western Union app. Fill in the info for your debit card where the money will come from. Choose to receive cash. Pick up at Azteco Bank in Melaque. Fill in your personal information for being the receiver. You are the receiver and the sender. The rates change daily. If you initiate a transfer on the app it will tell you the rate. It’s been in the 16’s US. Hope that helps.

You can also send money via Western Union to the OXO in town, which means you wouldn’t have to travel to Melaque to pick it up..
I think it has to be just under $1000. And I think it’s pretty much the same routine online as sending to Aztec or other banks.. Just take your ID and MTN ( money transfer number) when you go to pick it up. You can send more money through Aztec, tho.

Yes, that is correct, but you can’t get as much. I would check with them first to see what their maximum amount is.
