MARIACHI NIGHT! Friday, Feb. 9, marks the party highlight of the enitre existence of Crocodile Bar and Cabanas since its opening in 2018.
The Music Rick and Paul start off the evening at 5 p.m. with their smooth sound and will play through the sunset. At 7 p.m, Mariachi Arriba Jalisco will crank up the party and play until 9 p.m. Come channel your inner-Mexican and buy your tickets before it’s too late.
The Menu UPDATE: If you would like an ingredient removed from any particular item, please let us know while purchasing tickets. Appetizer: Guacamole for everyone Main dish: Pick one of the following when you purchase your ticket *Flautas (Fried twisted corn tortilla stuffed with chicken, with cream, lettuce, cheese and tomato sauce) *Pambazo (Bread stuffed with potato and sausage, bathed in guajillo sauce, accompanied by lettuce, cream and cheese) *Tlacoyos (Thick rhomboid-shaped corn dough tortilla, filled with a bean dough, covered with tomato sauce, with cheese, cream, onion and cilantro) Dessert: Tequila gelatin or another delicious substitute Drinks sold separately
Tickets going fast Crocodile Bar offers this special event for only 300 pesos for those visiting for the high season. For folks who live in La Manzanilla all year, tickets are just 200 pesos. The tickets include the four hours of music and all food. Only folks with tickets may attend. Sales scheduled to end Thursday, but might end sooner if the event sells out. Please get your tickets during bar hours from either Mateo, Belen or Cristal and please don’t ask Mateo’s cafe friends for tickets.
BIRTHDAY WEEK IS HERE WITH MODIFIED SCHEDULE The mariachi night is the highlight, but not the only special moment of Mateo’s birthday week.
Tuesday, Feb. 6: Free shot of tequila or a mineral water for anyone wearing a collector’s item Crocodile Bar and Cabnas t-shirt or tank top. Yes, Mateo regrets not printing more T-shirts.
Wednesday, Feb. 7: Our only seafood buffet of the season. Will include a variety of shrimp and dorado and cooked on the grill. Reservations required, but not tickets, for the buffet and priority seating to those who make reservations. 300 pesos for this amazing meal.
Thursday, Feb. 8: UPDATE: Poutine night postponed until Feb. 15. For Mateo’s birthday, please come enjoy a hamburger meal or arrachera cooked on the grill.
Friday, Feb. 9: Mariachi night! Only with a ticket.
Saturday, Feb. 10: Free birthday cake for all customers. Customers = people seated at tables who aren’t just saying [redacted as Mateo refrains from sarcasm].
LATEST RUMORS ABOUT MATEO With the plethora of rumors about Mateo’s future, please understand it is not true Mateo will open a high-end restaurant in New York City. Yes, the high-end restaurants apparently have signs instructing folks to refrain from [redacted], but though Mateo suggests making a reservation for Tuesday nights to get the best seat, reservations have not been required to sit down and order a drink. It is true, however, Mateo has decided to offer counseling to those who find it necessary to ask for no sugar in a margarita.

RESERVATIONS For Tuesdays, the latest one may make a reservation is 5 p.m. For Thursdays and Fridays, the latest would be 5:30 p.m. For Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, the latest would be 5:50 p.m.* Wednesday, Feb. 7 would be 5:30 p.m. Everyone in the party needs to respect the reservation time. You have a 9-minute grace period. After that, your table and/or seats will go to other folks who didn’t make a reservation. Reservations only allowed six days in advance of the event.
HOW TO MAKE A RESERVATION *Send Mateo a text using WhatsApp *Call Mateo. His phone seems to work these days *Stop by the bar–during bar hours–and ask for Mateo, Cristal or Belen. Pro tip: The bar is not open before noon. If you confuse Mateo’s clone on site before noon with Mateo, please remove all sharp objects and only make nice comments about the Oxxo, the Four Seasons, and Bill Gates. *Spread a rumor Mateo is turning 65, not 55, and he will knock on your door at 11 p.m. and prove he’s really turning 55 by remaining awake after 10 p.m., at which point you can make your reservation. *Comment on this thread predicting the day La Manzanilla will run out of water, or Crocodile Bar will be torn down and Mateo will try to find you the best seat in the house
