Marketing My Memoir, Part II
Posted by Lynne W on February 16, 2024, 4:20 pm
Many of you snowbirds don’t follow local online forums in the off-season, but you will head home fairly soon, so I’m going to repeat my original summer post. I couldn't attach the cover of my Mexico memoir, The Accidental Immigrant, which I would have called something else had I known earlier that someone had already used “my” title. So I'm going to ask Stephanie's permission to hang it in the bookstore. Since it’s difficult to promote an English-language book in a Spanish-speaking country, I hope that some of you will want to read it. You can get an idea of the contents by reading the back cover. If you Google my name (Lynne Willard) and book title, you will find it listed by many online outlets all over the world. The price should be $12.95 for the paperback and $2.99 for the e-book (or the equivalent in the currency of the country where you order).
Ordering Information:
In the U.S., the book is available in paperback from both Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com for $12.95. Although Amazon’s listings sometimes go awry, the book is never out of stock because it’s always printed on demand to fill specific orders. In addition to shipping, Barnes and Noble allows you to buy online and pick up the book at its nearest store the same day. The e-book version—Amazon Kindle or Barnes and Noble NOOK book—costs $2.99 on both sites.
In Canada, the only outlet seems to be Amazon.ca (Note that “.com” is not included.
Even if you don't agree with my political and religious views, you might still enjoy the story. (The ending has already changed since a significant donation will allow the Overground Railroad to remain entirely underground.) Thanks in advance for your interest. I will try to include some reviews below.
Top review from the United States:
Annette G. 5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done Reviewed on October 23, 2023 Verified Purchase Very well written. Although I attended the same private school, we weren't friends. I enjoyed her perspective and personal journey even though we are of different beliefs. Thank you for taking me back to a different time and sharing your journey through this difficult thing called life.

Deanna N. Hammersley 4.0 out of 5 stars Love letter to Mexico Reviewed on September 13, 2023 Verified Purchase Great story, well written and fun to read!
The person who gave me only two stars took the time to find me and explain: “I loved your story, but I am a MAGA supporter who despises your politics.”
