Spraying

An official looking truck is spraying something into the air all around where we live near the end of Calle Tamarindo. Does anyone know anything about this?

They usually spray to kill mosquitos prior to Semana Santa, which starts early this year.

Also- Dr Martha says there is dengue in town, mostly on the south side of the yellow bridge. Yesterday the spray truck went north down the beach road to Boca.

Yes there is dengue south of the yellow bridge. I know first hand because I had it.

Two spray trucks came, one after the other, by my house in the Aztec area the other night. Total different part of town.

Close all windows to homes and cars when you hear the truck coming or beforehand, they always do it after dark. So that there is no wind, but it still floats over everything. If you have a Moto of any kind, make sure you wipe off the handles and the seat in the morning. for years we have tried to find out what it is that they spray, but no one will commit to saying what it is. One of the officials in the water told me about closing all windows, etc. so I can imagine it is not an organic, safe substance.

I asked the Jefa of the crew that checks peoples yards for standing water who told me the chemical they are using is MALATHIONE

Malathion can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea, as well as confusion, blurred vision, sweating, muscle twitching, irregular heartbeat, convulsions, and death. Symptoms occur when malathion is inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin.

3 times in 24 hours

Last week they sprayed 3 times, 7:30pm then 7:00 am and then again that night…. The white cloud hovered over the kinder school and elementary school… they walked with two spray units within a few feet of resistances, dogs, cats, chickens, people were eating their breakfasts and suppers, setting off car alarms throughout the day. The kindergarten school had children attending while it was being sprayed.One man carrying the unit and another man acting as a supervisor, no mask, no eye protection….
And yes as Glenn said there was a dengue outbreak, and yes those are the after effect symptoms stated by mazinka ….and yes I got some of those symptoms as live right beside the schools.

I have been wondering if maybe all the dog desths that happened shortly after this spray might have been related to the chemical and not been intentional poisonings....hmmmm?

It is cleared from the body quickly, in three to five days.[24]

No, Kathy, I've been getting them, too. Some even landed in my hair while I was sweeping up the dead bodies--very difficult to remove!
