Does anyone have current information/update? Can see flames from south side of town on hill above "Bernardo's" old place.
Thank you

I took this photo from up near the crucero at around 4:30 pm. We could see the fire from the highway as we returned from Melaque- it seems to have spread quite a bit across the ridge.
I have heard that Protección Civil and the Bomberos are aware of it and it is apparently under control, although it sure doesn’t look like it.
Hola, hola. This is what I learned from our last LM fire on the hill episode. The advice and information come from a reliable lifelong, educated resident of LM. Unbelievably, he says, 'don't panic'.
Then he explains why. Unlike the very flamable pine tree forests found in the US and Canada, LM hardwood trees and debris are much less likely to burst into flames and become a wildfire. This makes the occasional fires controllable by Proteccion Civil. So, more often than not, you can believe the authorities here when they tell us that a fire is controlled.
Well, to hear that, I was relieved. Although I confess, that I will probably always react to seeing smoke on the hill, I'm a Californian after all. Cruz
Thank you. Being from Northern New Mexico, where we have experienced the worst fires on the country recently, I have a bit of anxiety around fires as well. I will try to breathe and stay calm. 😃 😊
