Ambulance update

Good news from the Ambulance Team! It's been a bad year for alacran pics. Just since I returned to Oregon at the end of May, the ambulance has had over 8 calls for alacranes. Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult to get the anti-venom serum. Usually we have to take the patient to Cihuatlan, and lately they don't have a good supply of the anti-venom. Our team contacted La Huerta officials about this problem, and we got good results. The Director of Hospitals has agreed to supply both the ambulance team and the Centro de Salud with anti-venom, and she is coming to La Manzanilla on August 7 to train us all in how to use it most effectively. This is the first time we've been able to get such good results from a request! Additionally, Chuy Reyes Perez is attending a course in "pre-hospital" care recommended by Victor of Proteccion Civil. He attends this class in Autlan every Saturday for 18 months and is sharing what he learns with the team. More good news: Itzy has now joined the team after completing her EMT course in Ciudad Guzman. She is a fully trained EMT, and as such, can continue to train the rest of the team as well as perform any other ambulance responsibility. Welcome, Itzy! Finally, we have another team member who has agreed to be trained as a driver. Right now, we have three people who drive the rig, so this additional driver is much needed! Sadly, many of the people we have served in the past few months have not made donations to the ambulance. If you would like to help, Mayan at La Manzanilla Homes, or Laura at the Lab are happy to accept donations. If you are out of Mexico, you can donate directly to our intercam account. Here is a link to the information on making that transfer: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0?ui=2&ik=19598a2b2c&attid=0.1&permmsgid=msg-a:r8502276788853970757&th=1900dd08777d0eaa&view=att&disp=safe&realattid=f_lxc6qdfn0 Thank you to everyone for your continued support. We are so happy to provide this valuable service to the community!
