Our Palapa was caught on fire last week due to fireworks!!!! Fireworks can pose a significant danger to houses with palapa roofs on the beach and in the village due to their highly flammable nature. Palapa roofs, typically made from dried palm leaves or thatch, are particularly susceptible to catching fire from stray sparks or embers produced during a fireworks display even if they habe been sprayed with retardent. The combination of dry vegetation and coastal winds can exacerbate the situation, causing flames to spread rapidly and potentially leading to devastating injuries to loved ones and property loss. Additionally, the proximity of these structures to open beach areas, where fireworks are often launched, increases the risk of accidents. It's crucial in being responsable for your actions and the actions of your children for the safety of others. Happy New Year.... Fingers crossed 🌺🤞🌺
Thanks for this warning, Shary. Sky lanterns have also been known to start fires in palapas. It might seem safe to send up a few, but. What if the wind changes direction?
