Story Slam coming up at Casa Luz, January 7th, 7:30

Save the date!
Sign up at the door to tell your story. Stories need to be told, not read. True stories only. You have 5 minutes. All stories will get a score by ad hoc judges selected from the audience. A large sum of the door fee will go to three winners who will each select a charity or cause for donation of the winnings. This event is great fun! YOu will learn a lot about your fellow community members! Anne Wheeler will host the evening, so you can expect a story or two from her during the break.

In the past, stories could be read ... but with a score penalty. Is that no longer to be the case?

Yes, you are correct Jo Anna, you can read your story, but you will loose a point in the scoring. Thanks for asking for clarification.

Reading is not the point of the story slam. That’s no fun. Maybe it should be a different contest.

This is a competition with three rules …tell not read…your story not someone else’s and within 5 minutes. I recall people being disqualified for reading or going overtime in past years. Story telling is an art form and one I take very seriously. Reading is an entirely different thing. Can we please stick to the rules?

Suggested donation for story tellers is 80, with general admission at 100 pesos.

Door fee is 100 pescos, and if you are going to tell a story, it is 80. The three winners choose a person, effort, situation in need of the pescos so we are all winners.

Come early to insure a seat. Last year we closed the house before 7:30! No seat saving please!
