We've experienced quite a rise in the temperature of the ocean in the past 3 weeks. For instance, on April 12 the water temperature in LM was 68.5F. Then, we began to experience incremental increase in the temperature readings each day thereafter. Today, the water temperature is 81.7F.
Yes, jellyfish and stingrays are normally associated with cooler ocean temps. However, I swam into quite a few malaguas on Tuesday (the frayed dirty brown paper variety). Maybe they, too, were caught off guard by the relatively sudden rise in ocean temperature.
Hopefully, all of the nasty creatures will move on now that the water is consistently delightful again.
